On a recent trip to the Gold Coast my friend and I decided to book a two day getaway just south of the border at a lovely little glamping spot in Cabarita Beach. Due to an unfortunately hail storm we got the call a day before we were due to check in that the accommodation had been destroyed. Not wanting to ruin the trip we jumped on the internet in search of a budget friendly place to stay before stumbling upon this gem located in the stunning area of Brunswick Heads, New South Wales.
Checking In to The Brunswick, Brunswick Heads
The Brunswick, Brunswick Heads is situated in the heart of (you guessed it) Brunswick Heads, New South Wales, a short forty minute drive from Gold Coast Airport. This quaint little town is only a short drive from the Gold Coast and nestled just down the road from the popular tourist destination Byron Bay.
Arriving at the Brunswick you are greeted by the scent of fresh ocean air, stunning scenes of white and lush tropical palm fronds. After a swift check in we made our way to room 108, located on the ground floor just at the end from reception. The room boasted two queen beds, with the softest bedding you could imagine in a motel and instead of the standard floral prints and musty bold colours you normally find at this type of establishment, the Brunswick boasted crisp white, airy spaces with real plants and wicker furniture, giving it the perfect tropical oasis feel.
What to do
There are plenty of wonderful restaurants, beaches and activities within walking distance of the Brunswick or you can borrow one of the free bikes from the Motel, which is a perfect way to explore the local town and nature reserves. We opted to take the bikes, which took us to the near by town of Ocean Shores where you can pick up some supplies for picnic by the river where if you sit still long enough you may see some dolphins cruising up and down the river.
On weekends the Brunswick offers wonderful activities in the communal area, where you could opt to sip wine poolside or join in eating freshly caught prawns and oysters from ‘The Prawn Bar’ located on the lawn just outside the Motel. Not here on a weekend? No worries! the communal area is still a great place to sit, relax and eat some local produce, take away or sip wine while meeting other travellers.
Overall, I loved our stay at The Brunswick, it become the ideal place to stay in a non-ideal situation. The free bike hire was an amazing bonus and I would 100% stay again.
